The Milo Junior Hockey League got to a rather poor start, with issues of the pitch taking away the highlight from the performances on the pitch.

At the KLHA Stadium in Pantai, the A-Boards of the title sponsor MILO were conspicuously missing as the administrators of the stadium, KL Hockey Association told the Organisors, Malaysian Hockey Confederation to seek approval from Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur before putting up the A-Boards.

As this was only communicated an hour before the match, it was not possible for MHC to get the said approval and MHC Competitions Executive Hashim Mohd Yusof said that it will be reported accordingly to the Technical Committee that meets Monday.

"We will play the matches scheduled this weekend without the boards and will try seek approval on Monday. Failing which we will move the matches to the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil," said Hashim.

On the pitch though there was plenty of action with nine matches taking place.

Defending champions SSTMI Thunderbolts got off to a winning start as they defeated their juniors SSTMI 6-1 at the Taman Daya Stadium in Johor Baru.

Thunderbolt opened scoring in the 13 th minute when Mohd Aminuddin Mohd Zain converted a penalty corner.

Muhd Amirol Aideed Md Arshad made it 2-0 in the 23rd minute before Aminuddin scored his second and his team's third in the 31 st minute.

Muhd Sufi Ismat (37 th minute) and Nik Muhammad Aiman Nik Rozemi ( 39 th minute) made it 5-0 in favour of Thinderbolt before SSTMI Juniors pulled one back through Raja Muhammad Izzat Raja Hussin in the 58 th minute.

Azril Misron completed the scoring for Thunderbolts a minute later for a final score of 6-1.

"Overall I am happy with the performance although we could have scored more if not for being hasty when presented with chances," said Thunderbolts coach Wan Mohd Roslan Wan Abdul Rahman.

"Our juniors are a decent side and those who take the lightly will pay the price.

"It is our first game and there are bound to be some areas we need to work on but I am not overly concerned."

At Pantai, Olak-PKT got off to a great start when they trashed KL Sports School Juniors -MSSSWP 6-0.

Despite dominating the match, Olak only opened scoring in the 20 th minute as via Mohd Noor Khairul Azri Adnan,

Mohd Syabariq Shamsuri made it 2-0 in the 32 nd  minute before Norhafizi Aris scored Olak's third in the 33 rd minute.

Olak added another three goals in the second half via the efforts of Marwadi Hanimin ( 40 th minute), Noor Khairul ( (45 th minute) and Maxhana Christi ( 52 nd minute).
